Is Life Just a Disney Vacation?

I certainly cannot speak for all families, but I can most definitely use my own family as the current example. We are absolutely a “Disney Family.” It was my mother’s most favorite place to vacation. She came alive there, as most adults seem to do. We say it’s for the kids, but who are we kidding? After mom’s passing, my sister kept the passion going strong, as her family takes Walt Disney World by storm, leaving no box unchecked, year after year. As for me, I recently moved nearby and am currently sniffing out which yearly pass package I wish to purchase. But let’s break down a typical and traditional visit for most, in the simplest of formats.

The average person looks to Disney as a big and exciting trip that one may have to save up for. They plot, plan, and allow their exhilaration to build. Oh, the anticipation! Nearly chomping at the bit, as you visualize your favorite rides, food, and shows. YOU JUST CANNOT WAIT TO GET THERE! Upon arrival, you are overjoyed, to say the least. Ready to soak up every single Disney experience available. But let’s not forget, it isn’t all cupcakes and rainbows. Disney, like everything else, has its ups and downs. It’s pros and cons. The positive and the negative. Maybe you just landed front row on your favorite ride, but hey, you had to wait in a long and boring line, first. Or how about the moment you accidentally dropped your treasured Mickey Mouse ear shaped ice cream on the ground. Total bummer. The point is, you look ahead at your trip with nothing less than pure elation, then hit the ground running, immersing yourself in every detail and taking in each experience, good or bad. You absorb every laugh, smile, and element of pure joy. You tolerate the annoying and frustrating stuff as best as you can, so you do not let it interfere with your adventure. You are present and mindful as you train your brain to keep the focus on the fun you are having, and you quickly dismiss any inconveniences that do and will pop up.

Sounds a lot like when we come to Earth.

Imagine that? Our beautiful, eternal Souls, just big chillin’ in the magical world of the non-physical, eagerly waiting to dive into our flesh suits and have one hell of a fantastic time visiting this Earth realm! We want to try everything!!! Some rides…I mean, moments…bring us bliss, while other moments may be more of a letdown. What if we used the same mentality to approach our life the way we approach our Disney vacation? We can relish in the happiness and choose to not to let the annoying things steal that happy. You wouldn’t let a missed reservation at Space Mountain ruin your entire vacation, would you? Of course not. So, just like a visit to Earth, we do not have to allow our whole trip to be ruined. Soak up the good, navigate around the bad, and let your Soul enjoy its vacation; To experience being a human.
