Give Yourself Permission to Be Human

Many of us have certain ârolesâ that we fill on a daily basis. Whether it is inside our own homes, at work, among our circle of friends, and within other corners of society. Maybe you even have an online persona. We are not one-dimensional beings, so the fact that we can show up in a variety of different ways to a variety of different people, is typically spot on. Personally, I embrace all facets of self and enjoy the wide range in which I can socialize. Being around different types of energy, characteristics, and traits can easily activate those ways of being within our own selves. Think about some of the roles YOU play for others. Perhaps you are the âcaregiverâ often in a mom-mode, looking after your friends and co-workers in the same manner you look after your family. Or maybe you are the âtherapistâ in the group. You may be that one person that your tribe comes to for guidance, advice, and emotional support. How about my class clowns out there? Those friends and co-workers that are constantly providing us with a laugh and a joke around the office.
For me, I have already confessed in several blogs that I have slowly morphed over the decades into a more constant and consistent flow of positive energy. My âidentityâ now more than ever, seems to be sort of a vessel for Spirit to flow from, sprinkling love, joy, and optimism as fast as I can sprinkle. Being a safe space for others, filled with warmth, compassion, and connectivity is a mission I proudly accept. This glass-half-full outlook I have does come naturally, however, I am also extremely intentional. But hey, letâs not forget something hereâŚ.I am still just a human!!!!! As are you. As are the caregivers, the nurturers, the class clowns, the life coaches, the protectors, the healers, the teachers, and all the other roles out there. I see you all and you are each extraordinary. You ARE making an impact in this world. But you too, are also still just a human. (Okay, yesâŚwe are Spiritual Beings in Human form, but you get the gist of where Iâm going with this.)
So, what happens to the healers and the bright lights of the world when it is us that is having a bad day? Are we letting everyone down around us? Are we allowed to vibrationally take a day off?
Full disclosure, nothing makes me want to flip my own âoff switchâ faster that a plumet in progesterone. Yup, Iâm talking about hormones! Ahhhh! As a 40-year-old woman who has never been pregnant, I am in full-blown perimenopause. Which (for me) means, intense PMS symptoms and only a 24-hour period. Each month there is about 2â3 days where I simply do not feel like myself. I feel fatigued, unreasonably anxious, and I typically spiral into a toxic self-reflection where I question my place in this world. Fortunately, through continuous cognitive work, I have been able to keep most of these hormone monsters at bay. I know that 99% of my emotions during those few days are not real and will pass. But forcing myself to be everyoneâs personal ray of sunshine during that time frame, doesnât exactly feel enticing.
Are we allowed a day off? Can we choose to step back, embrace our inner stillness, choose to be a bit quieter and more withdrawn, without disappointing anyone?
The answer is YES. Well, the answer is YES if you are surrounded by the right people for you. If your tribe is truly YOUR TRIBE than I pinky promise you, they will not mind. Those that are a vibrational match for you will hold space for you during any rough patches where you feel out of alignment and they will not demand you being anything other than yourself, regardless of how that looks day to day. They will love ALL levels of who you are. They will support each moment of your journey and match your low-vibe stages with empathy, compassion, and grace.
Give yourself a break. Trust your people and your path. Allow yourself to be human and ride the waves of all that makes us exactly that.
