But Aren’t Oracle Cards “Evil?!”

There are a handful of religions that are completely against the use of Oracle Cards and have managed to convince their followers that participating in a reading is, “wrong.” I have personally crossed paths with a church or two that have declared Oracle readings as work of the Devil, on their short-list of rules and regulations. In fact, some religions take it a step further and declare that even your own natural instinctive gifts were not given to you by God, because all psychic abilities are evil. Yikes! As an Intuitive who communicates with Spirit on a daily basis, I respectfully disagree.

Sure, I could claim to be offended and spiral into a rant about the lies of organized religion, but the truth is…. I am not offended. It is okay to have different beliefs. I am not here to convince anyone of anything. To each their own! Oracle Cards can be a powerful tool that helps connect YOU with YOU, shedding light on your own current thoughts/behaviors/choices, while all being gently guided by Spirit. However, not everybody shares my perspective. Here are the Top 5 misconceptions shared with me about Oracle Cards:

  1. They invite evil.
  2. They tell you when/how you’re going to die.
  3. They give you bad news.
  4. They open up a portal for demons.
  5. They are fake and used only by Con-artists.

These beliefs are simply just not true. However, I digress. But since I do randomly post readings on my Blog, I would like to possibly help ease the concerns of others. Today, I am going to share my personal experience with Oracle Cards and let you be your own Guru.

I was born with a variety of psychic gifts but often found myself not quite sure how to best utilize them. “How can I tap into these gifts and then channel them into somehow helping others?” About 8-years ago, I bought my first deck if Oracle Cards and found my answer.

Secret time: I had absolutely no idea how to use an Oracle Cards when I purchased my 1st deck in 2016. These cards had a blue backing with a unique spiral design that reminded me of the Buddhist Unalome symbol and they were labeled, “The Indigo Child Deck.” The photos printed on each of them were colored softly, mostly in pastels. I found that the energy of this specific deck warm and welcoming. I have researched the term “Indigo Child” several times. Still seen more as a pseudoscientific New Age concept, Indigo Children are typically highly sensitive empaths that usually possess supernatural or physic traits. They are known to be highly driven, creative, and have incredible psychic awareness. Some could argue that they are here to save our planet. These Oracle Cards sat on my dresser, still sealed in its original packaging for at least a week. The day I decided to open them was a day I will never forget.

My then boyfriend, now husband, had just graduated USMC Bootcamp and jumped straight into his next School, adding another 3-months on to when we would see each other again. To say I was unhappy about another long stretch of separation, was an understatement. His mother sensed my somber disposition and invited me to take a walk on the beach with her. While sitting side by side in the sand, I began unraveling. Tears rolled down my face as I confessed to her how lonely I had really felt. This was much bigger than missing a boyfriend. I had outgrown so much already in our hometown and had my sights set on the next big adventure. It was time for the next chapter, and yet, I was kind of, well, stuck. I had to wait to see where the love of my life would get permanently stationed, so I could move to that location, and we could reunite. I had no choice, but to exercise patience. After that walk on the beach, I poured my soul out to my future Mother-In-Law and ironically enjoyed the overdue cry. She hugged me tight, and I thanked her for her emotional generosity. It was in that moment, standing in my empty basement apartment, I decided to take this time to open-up that packaging and bond with my new Oracle cards. I want to reiterate that I did not have a single idea what that meant, but I was going for it! I tossed the ripped plastic aside and slide the deck out of its box, onto the floor. One at a time, I flipped them face up, attempting to take in all the images. With an old lighter, I set ablaze a Sage smudge stick and ran the wafting swirls of smoke over every single card. Then, I prayed. I asked for protection, guidance, and connection for today, tomorrow, and every day to come. There I sat, not entirely certain as to what to expect, but appreciating the unknown. About 30-minutes later, I gathered up each individual card and wrapped up the complete deck in an old hair tie. As I slowly stood from my seated position, I noticed that one card had accidently slipped out. There, on carpet, a lone wolf card was face down, separated from its deck. Thinking nothing of it, I reached down to grab the card and my heart stopped. The card read, “YOU ARE NOT ALONE.”

I felt instant comfort, support, and unconditional love. It was like a hug from the Universe. It was Spirit.

Year after year, I collected more Oracle Decks. I started to doing readings for anyone and everyone that was willing. I would even bring my cards to the restaurant where I waitressed and offered to do a reading for my co-workers before, after, and sometimes even during our shift. I was honored and ecstatic to strengthen this Third Eye intuition muscle. As time quickly marched on, I found myself experimenting with a variety of different Yoga and Wellness Studios, offering to be their exclusive Oracle Reader. Right up until a few months before starting this book, I still offered readings on a regular basis. Unfortunately, I must confess that charging money for readings never actually felt right for me. My Clairvoyance feels like a gift from God and something to be shared frequently. I don’t knock or judge those that allow their mediumship to be a lucrative career, it just wasn’t my path.

Today, I still do readings as often as I can for anyone in need, but I do not charge a dime.
